The Nevada Chamber Music Festival has attracted increasingly large and enthusiastic audiences since it made its debut in 2004. One critic wrote, ‘[Artistic Director and violinist] Kuchar’s collection of exceptional musicians playing exceptional music brought forth a collection of stellar performances worthy of any of the world’s great centers of culture,’ and referred to one concert as ‘electrifying and edifying listening.’
Sample the treasures at the Reno Chamber Orchestra (RCO)’s fifth annual Nevada Chamber Music Festival. The series will feature some of the most remarkable musical talent to be found in the Truckee Meadows and beyond: Festival artistic director and violist Theodore Kuchar; Clive Greensmith, cellist of the world-famous Tokyo String Quartet; Grammy Award-nominated violinist James Buswell; Martin Chalifour, principal concertmaster of the Los Angeles Philharmonic; University of Nevada, Reno professor and violinist Stephanie Sant’Ambrogio; and violinist Ruth Lenz, cellist John Lenz, bassist Scott Faulkner, and pianist James Winn from the Reno Chamber Orchestra.
The Festival will include a special afternoon concert for families and a lively New Year’s Eve celebration, with everything from 18th-century masterworks by Bach and Mozart, through Romantic favorites by Brahms and Chopin, to more modern fare by Vaughan Williams and Ligeti, and a new composition by Reno’s own James Winn.
