This may render North Tahoe unusable. There is no infrastructure nor will there be to manage this. The vote to pass will backfire for the western tax collectors.

Money Doesn’t Mitigate
Very sad to read this. The article stands as a memorial on how developers and county planning commissions mitigate the mitigations! You FIX them by collecting money from the developers! Question: How long will they be around to pay this amount each year? Are the individuals within the corporate structures personally held responsible? What exactly does collecting the money have to do with MITIGATING the problems cited?

Consider the Bed Type
I appreciate the report, but am surprised no distinction was made about what type of beds the community wants. Long-term beds are sorely needed; last time I checked, we have more than enough short-term housing.

Death of Ski Culture
Yes, loss of lifestyle and mountain culture. For grown men like me trying to make a living here, instructing at a resort with my girlfriend who is going to be a school counselor in Tahoe soon. We cannot and won’t ever be able to afford to buy a house! A few dorms? Get a grip, developers! There’s no housing for adults or families that work at resorts! Think about what we do for Tahoe’s community… My children at this rate will NOT be able to make a living being ski patrol etc., like myself. That essence, the ski bum that used to be able to afford a house in the ’70s — that’s what is dying here! When no one can run your lifts, teach your lessons or wash your dishes ’cause those people don’t live in Tahoe, just the rich, then what? Then what! These developments only further the death of ski culture. RIP as we slowly fade and die for big business.

Fond Adieu to Dedicated Healthcare Professionals
After 38 years in North Tahoe, my wife and I moved to live full time in the flatlands of Orange County. We moved to be close to our support system — our family and the sophisticated, expensive health care we will require in our dotage. This, rather than insist a small critical access hospital system stress the North Tahoe community and provide advanced care for us locally. I thought the transition would be difficult, but it has been remarkably easy and pleasant.
Though not widely appreciated, the superb quality of care found in North Tahoe is due to a selfless few true professionals — doctors, nurses, and other caregivers who dedicate themselves to the delivery of quality essential health care independent of the health system’s circumstances. Health quality is not the result of expensive administrative minions, glitzy facades, or profit centers. It’s the result of real people — determined healthcare professionals. Thank you, those few of you, for all the many selfless years of superb care and professionalism provided to me, my family, and your many other patients. Thank you for your collegiality. It has been a great honor to have you as my colleagues, caregivers, and friends. I owe my life to a couple of you; and would not be able to now express these thoughts had essential health system caregivers not been there. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
