The gift of being heard is unparalleled. With support from the Truckee Tahoe Airport and numerous community volunteers, 73 high school students from North Tahoe High, Truckee High, Sierra High, and the Community Adult School each had the unique opportunity to make their voices heard at the Youth Leadership Summit on April 28.
Thoughts were shared, skills were refined, meaningful topics were discussed, and new relationships were formed at the summit. Bringing students together from different communities allowed them to build collaborative relationships and amplify their voices together.
Stu Cabe, a specialist in creating a positive school culture, encouraged students to stand up for what is right and take active roles in defining their school environment. What was accomplished was momentous in the efforts to expand and promote student voice. Such advances wouldn’t have been possible without the support and generosity of the Truckee Tahoe Airport District.
