Americans for Safe Access-Nevada County (ASA-NC) is sponsoring an initiative to replace the county’s Cannabis Cultivation ordinance with one that is more reasonable. To date, we have gathered more than 11,500 signatures, but we need several thousand more to ensure our success. We are asking for you to sign the petition so we can continue to support patients in critical need of medicinal grade lab-tested cannabis.
In a nutshell, our initiative would replace square foot restrictions with plant counts. Currently, there is no limit to the number of plants a person can grow as long as they fit within a defined area. Our initiative would limit the number to six plants per qualified patient, ban outdoor cultivation in residential zones, and move collective grows to larger general agriculture-zoned parcels.
Cannabis has many different characteristics depending on the strain. ASA-NC attempts to match organic cultivators with patients in need of certain strains of medicine. We have found that some patients respond to cannabis that is high in cannabidiol (CBD), while others get better results from cannabis that has higher levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Furthermore, many of our compassionate growers supply low-income or catastrophically ill patients at no cost.We have only a few more weeks to reach our goal, so please make the time to sign our petition.
