As a long-time fan and reader of Moonshine Ink, I am always impressed by the level of professionalism shown in all aspects of the publication.

That said, David Bunker’s comprehensive, investigative article on Tahoe Forest Health System/Hospital achieves a new high benchmark for Moonshine Ink.

The journalistic excellence and impartial reporting in the piece are factors that even a major urban publication would take pride in. The obvious massive amount of research done, and the opportunity given for responses from Tahoe Forest Hospital personnel, is admirable.

I have been a patient at Tahoe Forest Hospital on several occasions over the past 35 years and have always felt I had received a high level of care by its dedicated and highly professional staff. Fortunately, having always been fully covered by insurance, bills have never been an issue. I must say however that I was somewhat taken aback by some of the salaries disclosed, and the operations of the foundation.

As a former investigative journalist and 30-year special district director, I truly appreciate the informative content of David’s article and am thankful to have both Tahoe Forest Hospital and Moonshine Ink serving our community.
