Every community, including Incline Village, has its public corners that could use some improvement. Taking the time to spruce them up is probably a common but fleeting thought for most passersby. Not for Mark Oberg, owner of Estate Landscape in Kings Beach. Oberg and his crews planted gardens in four such areas: just in front of the 76 Station at the corner of Northwood Boulevard and Highway 28, at the entrance to the Village Ski Loft, along the walkway to Pet Network, and at the north entrance of Kings Beach on Highway 267.
Estate Landscape has been serving the area for over 20 years and is well known for its plant lifetime guarantees and organic materials. As a resident and business owner at Lake Tahoe, Oberg ‘thought this contribution would be one way to thank the community for their support,’ he wrote in a press release.
Though the newly planted gardens took a little beating from the ruthless June snows, they are recovering and will flourish as Estate Landscape maintains them throughout the summer.
Street corners often go unnoticed, but when they become adorned with native plants and flowers that bloom through the summer, these nooks becomes part of what makes a community pleasant.
‘(The gardens) just make it look so much better,’ said Kristal Fresco, a five-year employee of Village Ski loft and an Incline local.
