Born in Paris France and a third generation artist, Catherine Schaefer has lived in Tahoe City for 41 years. She was an art major in school, and started doing watercolors 20 years ago, when her daughter Natalie won an art contest at age 11. Natalie was awarded $20 in art supplies; mother and daughter bought brushes and watercolor paint and started painting together.
