In the upcoming Nov. 8 election, there are two open positions on the Tahoe Forest Hospital District board. Of the three candidates, there is only one who has had a long and successful career in healthcare.
Alyce Wong is a resident of Truckee and has been a registered nurse for 45-plus years with a Masters in Science degree in nursing. She has been board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and belongs to the Academy of Medical Surgical Nurses. Her career has spanned from the clinical nurse at the bedside to university professor, to staff development, to nursing management and administration.
“As hospitals and health systems explore how to meet the challenges of the coming decade, they would be well-served to realize the breadth and depth of skills and capabilities that nurse leaders can bring to board positions,” reported the Journal of Healthcare Management in 2012 in an article titled Nurse Leaders in the Boardroom: A Fitting Choice.
