This month I had the pleasure of meeting Dawn. Dawn was rescued by the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe from death row in a Reno shelter and is enjoying her new life in the mountains.
I’m not usually a big fan of German shepherds (please no letters from German shepherds) because a few years ago one tried to eat me. It was very traumatic. Dawn is nothing like that dog. She is a young girl, about a year old, and still learning. She knows a few commands, like sit, and she takes her treats like a lady instead of trying to bite your hand off.
Dawn is pretty good on a leash except for the fact that she is actually unaware of what a leash is or that she is connected to one. She may just decide to jump in the river on your walk, so be prepared.
Dawn is good with kids and is ready to make the most of her second chance. She loves to swim and play ball. Dawn would make a great companion on the trails this summer and beyond. Info: hstt.org
