With more than 300 inches of snow gracing the upper elevations of the Sierra this January, tourists and locals alike had to scramble to cope with intense conditions we haven’t experienced in 45 years. In combination with an intensive 5-year drought, it’s safe to say many of us have forgotten how to hold our own during a winter of such epic proportions. Cruising into February, and with no signs of precipitation slowing down, Moonshine Ink hit Kings Beach to ask, “What is your best winter survival tip?”

Have a wood stove! The power went out several times and it gets just a little cold up here without any heat.

Make sure you have a snow blower and maybe a solar powered phone charger. A lot of people lost power and if your phone dies you may not have a way to communicate.
