Prior to the emergence of extreme sports, our physiological reaction to danger known as fight-or-flight primarily served as a survival mechanism. Fast forward to contemporary times — people have transferred adrenaline use from surviving to thrill-seeking, and where there’s adrenaline, there’s usually risk or danger to be found.
