The Tahoma Grid Firewise Committee is pleased to announce official certification of the neighborhood as a Firewise Community.

Property owners doing hazard reduction and home hardening on their parcels throughout Tahoma have helped make the community safer and better protected against wildfire. 

The Firewise Community includes over 900 parcels, one of the largest in the Lake Tahoe area. 

In addition to lowering fire risk, active participants in a Firewise Community may qualify for reduced fire insurance premiums by submitting the current Firewise Certificate to their carrier. The minimum commitment to be considered an active participant is one hour per year (or equivalent monetary value) of home hardening or hazard reduction.
