AUBURN
As cold and flu season gets underway, Placer County Public Health is sharing an overview of respiratory virus deaths among Placer County residents last year (July 2025 to June 2026) and will offer free flu shots at walk-in clinics and local events this fall, making them more accessible for those unable to get care through their regular provider.
During that time, there were 11 deaths involving influenza and eight involving Covid-19. There were no deaths involving RSV. One Covid-19 death involved a person under age 65. All other deaths occurred among residents age 65 and older. Most Covid-19 deaths occurred last fall, while flu-related deaths occurred during the winter months.
