NV Energy crews continue making progress restoring service to customers impacted by the Bug and Stallion fires and the Aug. 13 severe thunderstorms in northern Nevada. 

Approximately 835 customers remain without power as of Aug. 13 due to emergency de-energization measures in portions of Red Rock, Antelope Valley, and Palomino Valley. These outages remain necessary to protect public safety and reduce the risk of wildfire-related impacts to electric infrastructure.

Safety remains NV Energy’s highest priority. Every decision regarding restoration is guided by the safety of customers, communities, first responders, and employees. Power will be restored as quickly as possible, but only when conditions allow for safe re-energization. 

Since the fire began, NV Energy crews have been working to repair damaged infrastructure. More than 120 power poles were damaged or destroyed and have required replacement, representing a substantial rebuilding effort under challenging conditions. 

NV Energy expected the remaining fire-related repair work to be completed by the morning of Aug.14 morning. However, completion of repairs does not automatically mean power can be restored. Before re-energizing the system, crews must complete final inspections, verify equipment can safely operate, evaluate current fire conditions and coordinate closely with fire agencies and emergency managers.
