Tahoe Parking Lots to Temporarily Close Mid-Week

All six Placer County-managed parking lots in Kings Beach will temporarily close beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, while crews seal and restripe the lots. The parking lots are expected to reopen at 7 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7.

All vehicles must be removed from each of the six parking lots before 7 a.m. on Aug. 4. Vehicles remaining in the lots after the closures begin may interfere with the maintenance work and could be towed.

Because the sealant requires hot, dry conditions to properly cure, the work must be completed during warm weather. Crews selected mid-week days to reduce community impact.

The closure will affect all of the county-managed parking lots in Kings Beach, including the West End, Rainbow, Brook Avenue, Christmas Tree, Minnow Avenue, and Salmon Avenue lots. Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and allow additional time to find parking or consider alternative transportation options while the work is underway.

Placer County will post informational fliers at each parking lot ahead of the closure and place barricades at the lots early Tuesday morning to prevent vehicles from entering. Discussions with local businesses are also underway to mitigate the closures’ impacts.

The maintenance work comes as Placer County continues to implement its North Lake Tahoe Parking Management Program, which is designed to efficiently manage the community’s existing parking supply while improving access to businesses, recreational areas and other destinations.
