On Friday, July 10, Truckee’s KidZone Museum hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for its new 10,000-square-foot facility, which will be constructed on Truckee Regional Park property, at 10500 Brockway Rd in Truckee.

Carol Meager, executive director of KidZone Museum, shared the organization’s vision for the new building, highlighting modernized exhibits and immersive spaces designed to foster scientific, artistic, and architectural exploration for children of a wider range of ages and abilities. The presentation was followed by a blessing of the land by Washoe Tribe members.

Founded in 1992 by a coalition of local parents and educators, the museum has grown into a cornerstone of the Truckee community, welcoming approximately 30,000 visitors each year. The expanded facility represents the next chapter in its mission to better serve the families and community that inspired its creation.
