Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) is preparing for a busy Christmas and New Year’s travel period, with passenger volumes expected to match last year’s strong holiday numbers.

Peak travel days include Dec. 19, 22, 26, 29, and Jan. 2, when the airport is projected to welcome 14,000 to 15,000 total passengers per day. That’s well above an average day at RNO and travelers are encouraged to plan ahead.

Holiday Tips:

• Arrive Early: Get to the airport at least two hours before boarding time to allow time for check-in, parking, TSA screening, and any holiday crowds.
• Parking: Check real-time parking availability before heading to the airport or reserve a spot in advance at renoairport.com/parking. Surface lot and garage parking options are expected to reach capacity, increasing travelers’ chances of parking in overflow lots.
• Catch-a-Ride: Take $10 off a ride to the airport on Uber and Lyft by applying the discount code RNOFall25. Available through Dec. 31.
• Pro Tip: Don’t wrap presents before flying! TSA may need to inspect them, and that beautiful bow could be unwrapped before it reaches the tree. Consider gift bags or wrapping post-security.
• Construction Update: Expect active construction along the airport Loop Road. Major projects now underway include the Central Utility Plant (CUP), Police and Airport Authority Headquarters (The HQ), and the Ground Transportation Center (GTC) as part of the MoreRNO Infrastructure Program. Drive slowly and watch for signage.
