CARNELIAN BAY

On Nov. 7, after four days of champagne sailing on Corpus Christi Bay, Carnelian Bay resident Jim Sajdak was crowned the 2025 U.S. Sailing Multihull Champion, etching his name on the prestigious Hobie Alter Cup for the first time.

Hosted by the Corpus Christi Yacht Club and racing on Formula Wave Hobie catamarans, this year’s championship brought together the largest fleet ever, 86 competitors from around the country and beyond, for an exciting week of competitive, high-energy racing.

Sajdak’s path to victory was anything but simple. After finishing fifth in the qualifying series, he came roaring back in the Gold Fleet, winning three of the six final races to secure the overall title. The final day came down to the wire, with the top three sailors separated by just a single point going into the last race. Sajdak nailed the start and held his lead to the finish, clinching both the race and the championship.

Sajdak is also a three-time Hobie 14 North American Champion and hopes to someday work with the local agencies to establish a designated area for beach catamarans on the shore of North Lake Tahoe.
