The Sierra Nevada Resiliency Team (SNRT) is a 501(c)3 organization founded in July 2024 to support ski area employee mental health in the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The nonprofit enters its second season and winter prep is well on its way. Many of the ski resorts in the region have in-house resiliency teams to help support employees at their individual ski areas and SNRT brings these teams together to build a bigger web of support, offer training opportunities and provide financial and mental support to teams when needed.
This fall, SNRT is bringing a free all-day training to these resiliency teams with learning opportunities from the Responder Alliance, Speedy Foundation, and the Nevada Peer Support Network. SNRT is raising the money to provide this training, breaking down all cost barriers for participation. The nonprofit is also seeking donations to provide support to ski area employees this coming season. Last year it donated $4,000 to the Mammoth Mountain Ski Patrol for access to resources in stress resiliency and mental health and provided post-incident support for multiple ski area employees across the region.
Providing training and support to ski area employees is possible through charitable donations. SNRT urges skiers and snowboarders who recreate at these ski areas to give back to the employees that make their experiences so memorable.
