NEVADA COUNTY
The award-winning Nevada City Film Festival (NCFF) is pleased to announce the launch of the Filmed in Nevada County Grant, awarding filmmakers between $1,000 and $20,000 for short film or episodic productions that complete at least 50% of principal photography in Nevada County — including Nevada City, Grass Valley, Truckee, and surrounding rural areas.

Building on NCFF’s 25-year legacy of supporting independent filmmakers and excellence in storytelling, this program not only provides funding, but also strengthens connections between filmmakers, production companies, local businesses, and audiences. By promoting local vendors, services, and locations, the grant underscores Nevada County’s growing reputation as a filmmaking destination.
To encourage emerging filmmakers, up to two recipients will also be offered optional mentorship and guidance from experienced local filmmakers and producers, provided in partnership with NCFF and the Golden Sierra Film Alliance (GSFA).
Grantees will also have the opportunity to screen their films at the annual Nevada City Film Festival in June.
Applications are open now at nevadacityfilmfestival.com/filmedinnc. The deadline is Dec. 1, with grantees announced Jan. 5, 2026.
