As the sun moves from Capricorn into Aquarius on Jan. 20, it’s a great time to meet new friends, join a new group, or start your own grassroots cause. It is also the time to commit to what you love even if others don’t understand. For those of you skiing single, choose the happy ones who make you laugh and want to be friends first. Between Jan. 21 and Feb. 10, as Mercury retrogrades, reach out to old friends, rejoin past groups, and it is okay to reconsider your New Year’s resolutions (and even your new ski buddy). Be sure to wait until after this period to make any new commitments or contracts as retrogrades tend to require a re-do, especially anything you have started since Jan. 6; expect communication mix-ups.

Aries (March 21-April 19) C-H-A-N-G-E has been your middle name for the last few years. Consider joining a social group that aligns with the new you. Your new friends will be a better fit than those who have left recently. Pick the ones who can handle the deep stuff. You are so done with superficiality.

Taurus (April 20-May 20) You will like the upcoming changes at work. Go ask for that pay raise, your value to the team is evident now. Home is where the fun is, so have a party or work on home-related projects.

Gemini (May 21-June 21) Expand your mind. Read or take a class and learn more about what you love. Just one class though, as your work and your honey will also want more of your time.

Cancer (June 22-July 22) With all the emotional processing you have done lately, this is a good time to take yourself to one of the local spas or hot springs. If you are emotionally stuck, your partner or a good therapist can suggest a different perspective.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22) When dating opportunities arise, expect the unexpected (including an old love). You may be attracted to the person who isn’t your type, and this new attraction might work at your child’s school or love your favorite band. Caution: if you need to explain the joke, move on. Think outside the box when negotiating business deals too.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) Time to switch up your health and nutrition routine; experimentation is the key. Try a new yoga class, teacher, or treatment. Stretch yourself — try a different brand of organic cereal. It is okay to give perfection a rest right now.

Libra (Sept. 23- Oct. 23) Ask yourself, what do you love to do? Now go do it, and only bring your partner or BFF if they can laugh and have fun too. Spend time with children; they know fun. Kick up the romance, text or tweet a love note, hit the local music scene, and say yes when someone new asks you to coffee or a new art exhibit.

Scorpio (Oct. 24-Nov. 22) If you notice any changes in your health, go to the doctor. If something needs to be said, say it gently. You may be thinking of moving or having a roommate. Don’t be surprised if they are different than what you expect.

Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 21) Time to learn a new way to use technology to communicate. Share your brilliant ideas, especially with siblings, neighbors, teachers, and politicians. You may just get a gig that pays you to write about the local scene. Write that letter to the editor.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) While you’re busy with your life makeover, find new and unusual ways to make money. If you can write about technology, send in your résumé (those opportunities pay well). Another income source might be to sell your unusual stuff, but do hang onto what you truly value.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18) The spotlight is on you, so go be you. Friends and partners will appreciate the real you and your brilliant ideas. Say yes to new dating opportunities and fun getaways with your sweetheart. Don’t be surprised if a past love returns.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) Clarity is not your strong suit at this time. If you are unclear keep asking questions. Take time to be alone, retreat from the work stress, try your hand at painting, begin meditating, or expand your knowledge of health and nutrition. And pamper your feet.
