Local families flocked to Old Historic Truckee on Friday, Oct. 25, for the Halloween Parade, organized by the Truckee Donner Recreation & Parks District. Children and adults showed off homemade creations and elaborate costumes, ranging from classic spooky garb — complete with fake blood and face paints — to characters from movies like “Friday the 13th” and “Despicable Me.” The downtown area was full of candy, fun costumes, cobwebs, and lots of creepy Halloween spirit during the parade. As the sun began to set and the parade came to a close, the witching hour brought out the real Truckee spirits, and some believe the real ghosts will be haunting the downtown every night until All Hallow’s Eve.
