Placer’s Power Play

Your coverage of the latest power play by Placer County is really well researched and written.

This is a somewhat complex issue, but Melissa Siig’s article explains the details beautifully. The county seems to have what it considers legitimate issues, but their recent (and past) behavior indicates that to at least four members of the Board of Supervisors, Tahoe is a cash cow. In addition, the way it was presented by Ms. Merchant, with no previous discussion, was, in my opinion, inappropriate.

As for their citizen’s committees, years of experience have shown me that this is a frequently used tactic. They appoint a committee as a buffer between elected officials and their constituents, but rarely give the members respect by acting on the recommendations they make.

This is where Moonshine really shines. Thanks much for providing our community with real journalism!
