Liberty Utilities is hosting workshops about reliability issues within their service territory on Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the North Tahoe Event Center in Kings Beach. The utilities management company will also share the plans and progress made to improve their service reliability. While Liberty Utilities makes continuous infrastructure investments to improve reliability, outages still occur—some beyond their control.

“We look forward to sharing reliability information with our customers at these workshops,” states Jeremy Vanyi, Liberty Utilities’ regional engineer. “We want our customers to know how we are addressing these performance issues, and we want to hear from them about how we can better serve their communities.”

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) requires investor-owned utility companies like Liberty Utilities to annually post the two worst-performing circuits as measured by the industry standard System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI).

For 2016, those were: Topaz at 1,338 customer outage minutes (serving the Coleville and Walker communities) and Squaw Valley at 1,030 customer outage minutes (serving the North Tahoe area).
