Zalanta Resort Luxury Condominiums Now Open in South Lake Tahoe

The Zalanta Resort at the Village opened its initial phase this month — making it the first whole ownership luxury condominium residences in the Lake Tahoe Basin in 30 years. Featuring thirty whole ownership residences, the resort is set directly across from Heavenly Village in the heart of the South Lake Tahoe and Stateline communities. The property features a year-round heated pool and hot tubs, fitness center, and semi-private beach access. Tahoe Donner Association Named Firewise Community of the Year

TRUCKEE

Earlier this month, the Fire Safe Council of Nevada County named Tahoe Donner Association the Firewise Community of the Year. The recognition is awarded to communities that dedicate time and energy to help prevent and mitigate wildfire and wildfire risks. The Tahoe Donner Forestry Department manages 477 acres of reforestation and fuel breaks, 618 acres of fuel reduction zones, and oversees 7,300 acres overall. With more than 150 fires near Tahoe Donner in the past 40 years, fire safety is a primary concern.


2017/2018 CATT Building and Remodeling Guide Now Available

The Contractors Association of Truckee Tahoe (CATT) recently released its annual guide to building and remodeling in the Tahoe area. The free guide includes a directory of CATT members allowing direct access to local designers, contractors, and suppliers. Additional articles on building trends and tips are included, spanning topics from interior design to lighting to landscape. New TOU Rates Can Help Liberty Utilities Customers Save on Energy Costs

TRUCKEE

Earlier this year the California Public Utilities Commission granted Liberty Utilities its request to implement new and expanded programs with accompanying rate schedules that provide opportunities for customers to reduce their electrical use and save money on utility costs. Customers who use less electricity during peak use periods can now apply for a discounted rate based on time of use. Info: libertyutilities.com


South Lake Tahoe Releases Study on Impact of Vacation Rentals

SOUTH LAKE

The City of South Lake Tahoe released results from their vacation rental socioeconomic impact study this month. Key findings include a 53 percent increase in vacation rental units between 2011 and 2016, for a total of 1,861 units, and an 80 percent increase in total vacant units since 2000. The city contracted services from Michael Baker International, who partnered with California State University, Sacramento to complete the study. The study is intended to examine the wide range of factors that may be influenced by the growth of the vacation rental market. Info: cityofslt.us
