Truckee Donner PUD Awards $90K Rebate to Tahoe Truckee Unified School District

TDPUD recently awarded the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD) $90,000 in energy efficiency rebates to support school projects, which the school district celebrated at its Feb. 7 board of education meeting. The rebate allows TTUSD to complete energy efficiency and lighting retrofit projects at the Joerger Drive maintenance building and parking lot, Sierra High School, and Alder Creek Middle School. The project is expected to save 174,500 kilowatt-hours annually, equating to over $30,000 saved on electricity costs per year. Info:

Olympic Valley Microgrid Project Proposed

The Olympic Valley Microgrid Project would leverage battery storage technology to create a new way to store surplus energy and deliver it to the utility’s grid (see p. 12). Liberty Utilities and Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows discussed options to explore a potential site on Squaw Alpine property, along with Tesla, the potential manufacturer of the energy storage system. The proposed project would provide more electric reliability in Olympic Valley. The use of battery technology would be an upgrade to Liberty Utilities’ infrastructure and would provide an additional source of power that could be distributed through the grid when needed. Info:
