Stampin' for the Troops!
Truckee/North Lake Tahoe
Our nationâs armed forces deployed in the Middle East canât just stop into a drug store to buy a greeting card to send to their family. So weâre going to make 600 handmade cards for them!
Auntie Joan Stamping is hosting a community event to make handmade cards for U.S. military service members serving overseas. Weâve organized and assembled all the necessary supplies to make 300 Motherâs Day and 300 Fatherâs Day cards. Everyone is invited to help and show their support of our troops in this very personal way.
Date: Saturday, March 20th, 2010
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Place: Cedar House Sports Hotel
"Itâs wonderful to think that cards made by hand here in Truckee will travel across the globe, to places like Kabul and Baghdad, where a soldier will add his own words and love before sending it back to his family in the U.S.," remarked Veronica Cannon of Auntie Joan Stamping.
No crafting experience is necessary to help. Itâs fun and easy to make cards by hand. Children over age 5 are welcome. Folks are encouraged to spend an hour or an afternoon, coming by between 10am and 4pm
