Get Your Goat On!

On Feb. 19 we celebrate the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Wood Goat or Sheep. For fun let’s look at our 2015 Chinese horoscope for the year. Instead of the 12 zodiac signs, the Chinese horoscope uses 12 animals to represent each birth year, which also represents one of the five elements: metal, water, wood, fire, and earth. For those of you “goats” born in 1931, 1943, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015, and especially for the wood goat born in 1955, this is your year! Goat years bring people together and encourage community-oriented activities, teamwork, creativity, and socializing to gain important business contacts. Because it is a wood year, plan carefully and be patient and practical; we can expect a year of slow growth. For all of us, 2015 will be a year of work. Go forward, not back or sideways. Get plenty of rest, graze and ruminate wisely, and keep your health strong.

As the Chinese New Year starts in late January or February, those of you born in late January or early February should read the horoscope for the preceding year. If you were born in January of 1981, for example, refer to the animal that corresponds with 1980. If you are curious as to how this year may turn out or what you may build upon, think back to 2003 for clues. To quote a famous goat, Mark Twain, “History doesn’t repeat itself, but it does rhyme.”

On Feb. 18, we also celebrate a rare second new moon in Aquarius, which provides a second opportunity to meet new friends, join new groups, and make (or re-do) our New Year’s resolutions.

Rat (1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008): Let your witty, fun-loving self shine in social settings. Focus on collaboration, building stability, and letting go of what no longer works in your life.
