The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Governing Board will take a final vote on the Kings Beach Housing NOW project at its January 27 meeting in Incline Village. If approved, the project would bring 77 permanent affordable housing units to five different sites scattered across Kings Beach. The housing would be the first affordable housing units built on Lake Tahoe’s North Shore.

“Having a quality place to live is the best thing we can do right now to support our local families,” says Emilio Vaca, executive director of the North Tahoe Family Resource Center. “The Kings Beach Housing NOW project really gives us a much needed boost of inventory.”

The League to Save Lake Tahoe, who had opposed the project in previous iterations, is “neutral” on it at the current time, according to Program Director Carl Young.

A community open house about the Kings Beach Housing NOW project will be held January 20 at Kings Beach Elementary School from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
