Book Review by Keaven Van Lom

Normal people know something is terribly wrong in the world yet they haven’t been able to completely identify it nor effectively do anything about it, resulting in frustration and confusion over what’s happening, such as the decline of a superpower like America. A book written decades ago but kept from public release until 2006 offers a welcome reprieve from the confusion. Political Ponerology is the first book to adequately explain man’s repetitive inhumanity towards man and to provide tools to end such destructive cycles. (Ponerology is a division of theology dealing with evil; the name is derived from the Greek word ‘poneros’ or evil).

During the oppressive regimes of Nazism and Communism, Polish psychologist Andrew Lobaczewski and colleagues studied how negative ideologies infected entire nations through individuals with various pathologies, mainly psychopathy (absence of a conscience or empathy). Discard your programmed view that serial killers are the only psychopaths, for psychopaths tread heavily upon your life every day. Modern psychologists posit that one in 10 men and one in 100 women are psychopathic.

Lobaczewski says that for centuries, evil has been regarded with a moralistic interpretation that did nothing to help humanity counteract it. His scientific study led him to observe that “evil” acts were most often perpetrated by psychopaths, essentially those with mental diseases, causing him to study evil as a disease not a concept surrounded in moral fluff.

According to Lobaczewski, a small percentage of psychopaths has the ability to infect certain personalities within populations to go along with their deviant worldview by manipulating them with propaganda and “patriotic buffoonery.”

Causing a sort of neurosis within such personalities, psychopathic regimes – whose desire is to rule and be served – have used these pawns to inflict enormous suffering on the majority of “normal” people throughout history. Lobaczewski calls this “macrosocial evil’ where large scale evil overtakes whole nations affecting social, political and religious movements time and time again.

According to the book’s editor, the “They hate us because of our freedoms,” Bushism is a perfect example of “selection and substitution of data in reasoning,” or more simply, elaborate propaganda that is happily accepted as an explanation by the susceptible public because of deficits in critical thinking, reasoning and criticism.

How this work saw the light of day is a miracle bearing mention. From the book:
“The first manuscript of this book went into the fire five minutes before the arrival of the secret police in Communist Poland. The second copy, reassembled painfully by scientists working under impossible conditions of repression, was sent via a courier to the Vatican. Its receipt was never acknowledged, no word was ever heard from the courier – the manuscript and all the valuable data was lost. The third copy was produced after one of the scientists working on the project escaped to America in the 1980s. Zbigniew Brzezinski [Polish-American political scientist and National Security Advisor to Jimmy Carter] suppressed it.”

Completed by Lobaczewski in 1985, no publisher would touch it. It sat for 20 years until the now elderly author stumbled upon Laura Knight-Jadczyk’s web pages on psychopathy. A writer and amateur historian, Knight-Jadczyk came under attack from nefarious individuals causing her to research the bizarre behavior she was experiencing, eventually leading her to study psychopathy. Lobaczewski sent her the manuscript and the endlessly suppressed book was suppressed no more when Knight-Jadcyk’s independent Red Pill Press published it in 2006.

Initially, I resisted a book by an academic, but his writing style is not so technical so as to cause complete disengagement; however, it requires focused attention and thought. The editor’s superb preface and footnotes assist with needed explanations while providing alarming examples of the ‘ponerization’ process the editors believe is occurring in America.

As I pondered the material within the context of historical and current events, I knew I was gaining important knowledge that was painstakingly acquired and then suppressed for the power it holds to turn the course of humanity toward a more positive and “normal” progression. Could this be the most important book you ever read? Absolutely. Lobaczewski believes that awareness and understanding of the phenomenon as well as pre-screening for pyschological defects of those who could rise to powerful influence would greatly benefit societies.

The biggest fear of the pathocracy (a small pathological minority controlling a society of normal people) is to be discovered; to have its mask removed and be rendered powerless. Is it too late to recover from damage already inflicted, or can we utilize this remarkable science to create a world normal humanity dreams of and knows is possible? It’s time to wake up or risk succumbing to a path Lobaczewski says was chosen for us by powerful forces.

All of Lobaczewski’s associates and contacts became “inoperative” due to secret arrests, repression, persecution, death or from being ponerized themselves. Perhaps it was due to divine intervention that the aging psychologist’s work has at long last been brought to light as a beacon of hope in a world teetering on the abyss yet again.

This is so right. It seems that many people just can't or won't see the truth of what's happening in the world today. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that if they acknowledge the truth they have to come down off their comfortable living arrangements and try to change things. And, of course that might mean no granite counter tops ! No gas guzzling SUV's. And they might actually have to see that thier greed is contributing to millions of deaths worldwide.

Keaven is not only a wonderful writer, but an excellent speaker. To be excellent in both is somewhat uncommon.

My God Keaven! Do you have your own helipad for the black helicopters? I'm guessing they come visit often. No prejudging going on here! You really like a book about the study of evil in politics which displays pictures of W (most prominent) along with his historical partners in crime; Hitler and Stalin! I'm guessing there must be a chapter in there about 666 being inscribed on his head.

Really good review! I just had a chance to read this and it is an absolutely necessary read for anyone who really wants to understand exactly what is going on around us right now. It's difficult to articulate how important this is - if you want to really know what is behind what is going wrong all around us - thanks, Keaven.

Dave Evans: "You really like a book about the study of evil in politics which displays pictures of W (most prominent) along with his historical partners in crime;Hitler and Stalin!"

Don't judge a book by it's cover. Actually in this case you should! Did you see that Ariel Sharon is on the cover as well? And rightly so.
I actually read it and find Keaven's review most excellent! And I agree 100% that this is one of the most important books out there today.
Dave's reaction and manipulative association's (black helicopter's, 666) are a perfect example of ponorization in progress. I can only second Keaven on highly recommending this groundbreaking book. If you really want to wake up this is on the top of the list.
Thanks for reviewing it.

Thank you for highlighting this book!

Reading the book was a revelation to me. All of a sudden it became clear why we are in such a mess that we are in and why nothing has changed for millenia. As long as we remain ignorant of a disease, then we will not find a cure.

A defining characteristic of a psychopath is that of having no conscience. This gives them an advantage in gravitating towards positions of power and influence, especially when the rest of humanity remains unaware of this fact. Another book on the subject byDr.Hervey Checkley called "The mask of Sanity" is another good book on the subject.

Understanding what is happening in our world is key to changing it for the better, as action based on ignorance achieves nothing.

Political Ponerology is a MUST read.

You are absolutely right, Keaven. This is a most important book.

Those who try to trash it either are too comfy and lazy in their everyday dream world, are already too deep into the ponerized program, or are trying to keep everybody else asleep and uninformed about the situation and what needs to be done.

Mr. Lobeczewski risked his life, several times, to get this book out. Not counting the dangers he faced in doing the research on it. Yes, it is a hard read. But it is chock full of valuable information they we all need if we are to make a difference in this world.

Wow ... looks like this book really does explain what is going on on the planet Earth. It is much easier to blame a whole race, gender, ethnicity or political party for all the bad things that happen to good people, and of course it solves nothing. The Ponerology book seems to bypass all this and go straight for the underlying reasons. I have always been interested in psychology and thought that this is knowledge that can help understand evil. But I have never seen anything like this ponerology stuff before. Will get the book and read it ASAP. Thanks for a great review.

Wow! Comparing anyone who thinks that Dubya is a looney based on scientific measures to someone who has some religious belief in paranormal evil (reference to 666) or paranoia (reference to black helicopters) sounds to me exactly like the psychopathic "selection and substitution" in reasoning.

A book review about a book about a scientific study of psychopaths and along comes what? A psychopath to complain!

Bizarro!

The comments that make fun of the use of the word 'evil' in the title of this book are understandable, I guess. I've read the book. I wondered about that word myself when I started to read it.

In this context, evil is all that works contrary to the betterment of humanity as a whole. Religion, in this book, only comes up when examining the use of religion for either "evil" or "good" purpose. It has nothing to do with belief.

What this book can give you is a solid foundation in the workings of political machinations that would only leave you scratching your head right now. Why does the Bush administration consistently make decisions that seem so detrimental to the country? Are they buffoons?

Understand what this book is saying and you will know the answer to that question.

when I am reading this book , what I remembered is the mythical stories of evil (Ramayana ) . The pattern of the evil regimes is exactly same. One Nut some how magically comes ( dumb stealing elections etc ) to power and bring all types of nuts and changes every law existed slowly and gradually and corrupt every thing and suppress every thing against him with bhajan (support) gang acting as shield. This is a great book, it explains how the process of grabbing power works. How secret societies rise to top for our destruction. One doesn't need to be a expert to understand the process. Once you read this, you even can predict where all this ends.

"Macro-social evil". What a perfect term to describe what we are seeing around us. I have just finished Robert Hare's "Without Conscience" and Martha Stout's "The Sociopath Next Door". This is definitely next on the list.

If Dr. Lobaczewski can show how we get from the next door neighbor to Dubya, Sharon, Putin et al. and how to short circuit what seems to be an unstoppable pattern, I want to know!

I had never came across a mention of political ponerology before, so this had peeked my curiosity. I found this excerpt from the book and i'm amazed by the information and explanations as to why we're in the mess we are.

I did a google search on 'political ponerology and found a large excerpt on Laura Knight's website.

I'll defo by buying this book, thanks for writing about it Keaven.

Political ponerology is an important book and the material needs to be widely distributed and understood. Maybe then, the majority with a conscience can take action to prevent what is looking like a very bleak future for humans.

Eloquent review, most especially liked how you included the history of getting it published. I would have never imagined!

Reminds me of Controversy of Zion by Douglas Reed, another blacklisted title with much info to offer.

I've heard of this book from the SOTT page, and started reading it a few months ago. I am almost done and am amazed. This book is essential to protect yourself from people that twist words via doublespeak. Yes, doublespeak isn't just a term from the book, 1984, it is really happening. They say we are in Iraq to give them Democracy, yet the USA went into other nations to impose dictatorships (Latin America). They say we have a free choice in elections, yet we have to vote for someone from either party, basically the lesser of two evils (a forced choice).

This book will blow your mind.
