Brother Ali, Murs, the Grouch & Eligh, and U-N-I will take the stage in Truckee for an all-ages, Hip Hop extravaganza this Friday night at Truckee River Regional Park. Cambo and the Life, fronted by Truckee native Cameron Bartolini, will open.

Each of the main acts has its own special talent and holds a certain legendary status in the world of hip hop, but headliner Brother Ali’s back story is especially interesting. Born Jason Newman in 1977, with the rare condition of albinism, he converted to Islam as a young man and has always had a special affinity to issues of race and discrimination. His perspective on the world that comes through in the music is truly unique.

This full line-up should satiate any concert-goer in the mood for some serious entertainment. Elevated Mind State Productions, the producers, are a young group of Truckee-grown promoters who hosted a similar successful concert last summer, featuring big name hip hop artists Zion-I, One-Be-lo, and People Under the Stairs.

Advance tickets are $35 online at renegadeshows.com or at New Moon Natural Foods, Tahoe Hemp Co. in South Lake, Recycled Records in Reno, and T’s Mesquite Rotisserie in Incline Village. $40/gate. Doors open at 5 p.m. Info: renegadeshows.com
