Moonshine Election Coverage Kicks Off!
By Beth IngallsPublished: August 15, 2010
Winston Churchill once said that “the best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.” At Moonshine Ink, we want to do everything we can to prove Churchill wrong. For the upcoming Nov. 2 election, we’re striving to bring readers our most comprehensive coverage yet, and, as always, will focus specifically on our local region.
This month, we’re providing a comprehensive list of local offices, including number of open seats, office responsibilities, and benefits, and a list of candidates who qualified by the Aug. 6 filing date. Highlighted boxes show contested elections of special significance, offices that do not yet have any qualified candidates, or any race where an incumbent did not file by Aug. 6, as in the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District race. For the races where the incumbent did not file, the deadline was extended until Aug. 11 to allow other candidates to qualify. Since we’ll be at the press on that date, we’ll update any new information on extended filings at moonshineink.com.
Get informed, get involved, and remember — all politics are local.
