Pick-Up Hockey at Squaw
Thursday Nights
The Olympic Ice Pavilion at High Camp in Squaw Valley is open Thursday nights for pick-up hockey from 7:40 to 9:30 p.m. Hockey tram rides will be at 7:20 and 7:40 p.m. All players will download together at 9:40 p.m. Cost is $20 per person payable at the Cable Car ticket window. Goalies play free with prior notice. All players must have helmet (mask recommended), gloves, elbow pads, and shin pads. The only rental equipment available is skates for $11. Tahoe Mountain Sports Sample Sale
Saturday July 17
Tahoe Mountain Sports’ first annual Sales Rep Sample Sale sets up in downtown Kings Beach on Saturday July 17 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tents will take over the entire parking lot to feature samples from 12 sales reps and some 25 top-notch outdoor brands, including Mountain Hardwear, Salomon, Isis, Icebreaker, and Klean Kanteen. Sale items will include lifestyle and technical clothing, tents, sleeping bags, and other camping necessities, as well as Nordic ski gear and backcountry equipment. Admission is free. Ultimate Frisbee
Wednesdays and Saturdays
Get some great exercise playing Ultimate Frisbee each week in either Truckee or Tahoe City. Pick-up games are played every Wednesday from 6 p.m. until dark at the River View Sports Park in Truckee. Cost is $3 per session. Tahoe City Public Utility District offers free drop-in Ultimate games for players 16 and older at Bechdolt Field (North Tahoe High School) on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon through Aug. 21. Fly Fishing for Kids
July 24 to 25
You’re never too young to learn the sport of fly fishing! Truckee Donner Recreation and Park District and the Tahoe Truckee Fly Fishers are offering a two-day class on the basics of fly fishing for youth ages 11 to 15 years. Saturday will be spent indoors introducing students to equipment requirements, knot tying, how to set up a balanced system, and the philosophy of fly fishing. Sunday will be spent out on the water learning wading safety, stream entomology, how to read the water, fly casting, etc. Bring lunch and a dry set of clothes. Fly rods supplied. Youth Soccer Camp

Join in on a week of soccer and fun! Summit 7000 Soccer Academy’s head clinician Dennis Belisle will be hosting a soccer camp for youth ages five to 16 at Meadow Park. Training will focus on technical development and tactical training in small-sided games featuring the latest in European and South American methodology. Donate Used Sports Apparel
Adventure Risk Challenge is looking for donations of used sports apparel and gear. ARC works with students of lower socioeconomic status, so many of the students do not have the appropriate clothing for the outdoor activities they embark on. ARC is looking for winter gear and more.
