Crest Café Happy Hour Specials

The Crest Café is offering après ski specials four nights a week from 3 to 8 p.m. On Wednesday, enjoy $2 grilled fish, chicken, or tri-tip tacos. Thursday is sushi night with tasty rolls and sake, and on Friday and Saturday nights take part in wings and pizza, with three flavors of wings at 50 cents apiece and discounted pizza specials. TMCC Offers Indian Cooking Class

Wednesdays, Feb. 17 to March 10
Truckee Meadows Community College is offering an Indian cooking class, to be held at Billinghurst Middle School. Taught by daughter-mother team of Palkin and Shipa Zed, this class will provide a hands-on glimpse into the cuisine of India. 6 to 8 p.m.  Wednesdays from Feb. 17 to March 10. The group hosts a variety of beer-infused gatherings focused on homebrewing, craft beer education, and beer-food pairing. Souper Show Down
Saturday Feb. 27

Enter your soup into Tahoe City’s first annual soup cook off on Saturday, Feb. 27, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at Rideout Community Center. Tahoe City Recreation is hosting with professional and non-professional categories. Cost is $20 to enter a soup or $2 to come and eat soup. A first and second prize will be awarded for both categories as well as a people’s choice award. Burger Me! Launches Interactive Website
Downtown Truckee’s Burger Me! launched a new website this month featuring a playful design, lots of interactivity, and information about the hamburger joint. Through the new site, visitors will find Burger Me!’s latest specials and sources of the restaurant’s meat and produce. Those with a few minutes to kill can also play the game Burger Time. Local marketing and graphic design firm SmallPond Studio designed and developed the website. The firm used Flash to create the highly interactive site, built so it can be indexed by search engines and viewed by computers without Flash, including cell phones.
