Seeking Internship Providers & Host Homes
The Northern Nevada International Center and Sierra Nevada College have been awarded a grant by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to host 25 South African entrepreneurs (ages 25 to 35) over a two-year period. The first group will arrive in Reno mid-February, and the organizations are seeking both five-week internship providers and home hosts for the visitors. Study Abroad in Patagonia
Sierra Nevada College is offering a summer study abroad opportunity in Bariloche, Argentina. Students from any college or university, as well as high school students age 15 or older, are eligible to receive college credit for courses taken. Students will co-enroll in South America Snow Sessions, which provides a full camp experience of room and board, transportation, winter sports coaching, and cultural activities. Local Troops Adopt Troops Through March
The Girl Scouts of Sierra Tahoe are working on their second annual campaign to send their famous cookies to local military serving overseas. Last year, the group sent over 1,000 boxes to the 18 service men and women who registered. If you know of any Truckee-Tahoe service man or woman who will be overseas in the spring of 2010, sign them up through the end of March (cookies will be delivered early April).
