The Falla Guitar Trio

For over 25 years, Arts for the Schools has been bringing professional artists to the area to help bring art back into the classroom and present opportunities for cultural and artistic experiences for our community. The upcoming Falla Guitar Trio concert on January 15 is no different. Charming audiences worldwide with their string picking prowess, the trio weaves together a tapestry of original compositions, classical repertoire, and improvised jazz for an evening that promises no dull moments.
Kenton Youngstrom, Gyan Riley, and Adam del Monte bring to the table three powerful guitar pedigrees and showcase their love of music both on stage and in the classroom. Youngstrom, a former winner of the ASTA Guitar Competition, is also a member of the faculty at Pepperdine University and is active as a producer, composer, arranger, and recording artist. Riley was the first guitarist to ever be awarded a full scholarship from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. In addition to now being a faculty member there, Riley is an award-winning guitarist. Del Monte was the first prize winner at the 1997 Stotsenberg International Classical Guitar Competition and is now considered one of the new generation’s leading flamenco and classical guitarists. Currently on staff at the USC School of Music, del Monte is a part of Intercultural Journey, a collection of musicians actively pursuing peace through music.
As the Denver Post says, "It's hard to imagine, in this age of drum machines, how good three acoustic guitars sound.” It’s exciting to watch the three men, their individual sounds fitting together seamlessly, as they transition from jazz to classical to flamenco.
