Astrological Alchemy

The Sun enters into Aquarius on January 19. Aquarius is a fixed air sign and can be expressed as the love of thinking. The word “man” is derived from the Sanskrit manas, which means “to think.” The fundamental destiny and mystery of the human being is to think thoughts. To the degree that we dive deep within the mind in meditation and contemplation, we access the source of all thought and ideas: pure consciousness. These thoughts are not ordinary but embody the divine inspiration that is the source of all life. Aquarius is the sign that rules enlightened thinking, and its inner drive is to expand the mind and access the cosmic consciousness that is inherent within.

We have become culturally earthbound, and our thinking has become dominated by the practical, utilitarian, and conventional. Our educational and cultural institutions have eviscerated the inherent magic, awe, and wonder of life. The result can be a civilization that is very dull, limited, and boring. The energy and consciousness of Aquarius is the natural antidote.

This month we want to break boundaries, stretch the envelope, and reconnect with the sense of adventure at the core of life. Approach your mundane daily life from a new and fresh perspective. Think outside the box as you deal with the challenges in your life. Use the creative approach and change problems into opportunities. Remember that our very nature is based in creative intelligence. Aries (March 21 – April 19): This is a month to take care of old, unfinished business. Changes need to be made. You have been avoiding things in your life that need to be dealt with now. Meditation and contemplation will facilitate your mental clarity, showing you what needs to be done and how to do it.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20): You can experience an expansion of the heart that is truly wonderful. Joy and happiness can give you an uplifting feeling of freedom and liberation. Romance is in the air. A new energy is here that stimulates love relationships. Do new, fun activities with your partner.

Gemini (May 21 – June 21): Your mind is powerful and has the ability to penetrate deeply into the source at this time. There is a significant expansion and spiritualization of the mind occurring. See how you might be able to apply this breakthrough in consciousness to your work. There are certain personal fears that try to hold you back. You must deal with these.

Cancer (June 22 – July 22): Your inner being can experience a beautiful sense of expansion and transcendence. It is a very uplifting feeling that allows you to rise above your worldly cares. There is a spiritual energy that connects you with the underlying oneness of life. This experience can be shared with your partner.

Leo (July 23 – August 22): It is important to reconnect with the joy of life. Make sure to take the time to do those things that you are passionate about. Your creative expression is stimulated. Engage in new endeavors that you have been thinking about. Make sure that you include some alone time. It will do you good.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22): There is a sense of new beginnings and rebirth that is somewhat intense. You feel that personal growth is imperative now; your mind is open to new possibilities. You can see things in a new light that opens alternative doors of possibilities. There is support for you to apply these innovative ideas to your work.

Libra (September 23 – October 23): It is time to get organized and disciplined in your personal life. You feel a sense of responsibility to yourself that requires letting go of old, bad habits and replacing them with new, good habits. Regular exercise and recreation should be part of your new routine. There are some issues on the home front that also need your attention.

Scorpio (October 24 – November 21): Now is an excellent time for meditation and collecting your thoughts. Your mind wants to grow and penetrate the deeper mysteries of life. Nature beckons, so if you can contemplate the sacredness of our beautiful mountain world, you will be rewarded.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20): Work around the house is emphasized now. If there are some home repairs or redecorating that you have been considering, now is the time to do them.
