Sunnyside Offers Daily Specials
Sunnyside Steakhouse and Lounge is offering specials throughout the week. On Mondays, enjoy dinner in the Lakeside Dining Room with half-price wine selections; on Tuesdays, guests are offered appetizers from other restaurants under the TS umbrella along with drink specials; Wednesday is half-price fish taco night in the bar; on Thursdays, guests can enjoy entrees paired with a glass of wine from a featured winery of the week; and Fridays feature specialty martinis and live jazz. Come in on Saturdays for a “Tour of the World,” when chef Lee Kresy will create two entrees from whatever world cuisine strikes his fancy. Volunteer for Stone Soup
Stone Soup is in need of volunteers to help organize and coordinate the weekly community soup night for its second annual season. Additionally, volunteers are also needed who would like to prepare and serve soup at one of the weekly soup nights held at the old Truckee Community Center. Smokey’s Kitchen Delivers
Smokey’s Kitchen in Truckee is now delivering its entire lunch and dinner menu throughout Truckee, including Tahoe Donner, Donner Lake, Northstar, and Glenshire. Check out the restaurant’s website for the complete take-out menu and call for delivery, which will be available from 4 to 9 p.m. daily with a $20 minimum and $5 flat-rate delivery charge. Cable Car Café Open
Located in the Cable Car Lobby at Squaw Valley USA, the all-new Cable Car Café boasts a variety of options, including everything from pizza and burgers to sushi and gourmet salads. The Cable Car Café is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner during Cable Car hours, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday. All items are under $10 with the exception of dinner entrees, and kids’ meals are only $5. Slow Food First Quarterly Meeting
Thursday Jan. 28
Slow Food Lake Tahoe’s first quarterly general meeting potluck will be held  at the Cedar House Hotel from 4 to 7 p.m. Members, friends, and children are welcome. The theme will be “winter,” so if possible please bring a dish that feature foods that are currently seasonal in Northern California/Nevada. At 6 p.m., Gary Romano of Sierra Valley Farms will talk about his involvement with the new UC Davis documentary called “Is Sustainable Obtainable?” Chris Kerston of Chaffin Family Orchards is tentatively scheduled to talk about the goats he raises for meat and may bring a goat dish to share. Specials at Jake’s on the Lake
On Thursday, January 28, at 5 p.m., come to Jake’s on the Lake to taste wines poured by featured winemaker Row Eleven Wine Company, paired with samples of Chef Scott Yorkey’s award-winning creative cuisine. Cost for this four-course event is $25 per person. Space is limited, reservations recommended.

Starting January 19, doors open at 4:30 p.m. every Tuesday night for a Hawaiian-themed aprés-ski party. Happy hour goes until 6:30 p.m., and there will be specials on Mai Tais and Hawaiian pu-pus until 8 p.m., in addition to weekly charity raffles for prizes. Jake’s has teamed up with Alpine Meadows Ski Resort, Homewood Mountain Resort, and other local businesses to co-sponsor this event. Each Mountain Aloha Tuesday night presents opportunities to win several lift tickets to both ski areas, and winter snowplay gear. Raffle proceeds to benefit Disabled Sports USA Far West.
