From the peaks of Donner Summit to the sandy shores of Lake Tahoe, the July 4th weekend is jam-packed with events for every age and interest. Fun runs and art fairs share the stage with pancake breakfasts, parades, and live music. Free events abound, making the holiday an equal opportunity for all. If fireworks are your passion, then you’ll have a choice of several venues and evenings to choose from.
Use this event guide to help you move from one place to the next to enjoy the absolute best of our entire region, or simply hunker down in your favorite locale. No matter how you choose to bring out your inner patriot, Moonshine Ink wishes you a very happy and safe holiday!
Donner Summit
July 3

July 2

Truckee’s Fourth of July Parade, an old-fashioned, hometown event. The theme this year is “We Love Our Truckee.” Starts promptly at 10 a.m. east of Truckee High School and winds down Donner Pass Road ending in historic downtown. Parade participants are encouraged to sign up early as space is limited. Entry fee is $50, accepted through noon on Friday, June 25. Info: (530) 587-2757, truckee.com

Squaw Valley
July 2 through 4
Celebrate the 4th with the arts! Original paintings, photographs, ceramics, jewelry, and more by California's finest professional artists with live music each day, and the shops and restaurants of the Village at Squaw Valley to enjoy as well. Kings Beach
July 2

Fireworks show and deck party at the North Tahoe Events Center. Enjoy the fireworks show and get an early start on Independence Day! To become a sponsor, contact Cheri Sprenger at (530) 546-9000. Donation buckets will be available around town so community members and visitors can contribute. 3:30 to 5 p.m.: 4th Annual Rubber Ducky Race at Incline Beach
