Kid-O-Rama at Squaw Valley

Feb. 13 to 21
Squaw Valley USA hosts this weeklong kids’ extravaganza with big trucks, street and ice rink parties, and kid-friendly concerts. Don’t miss the marquee event on Saturday Feb. 20, when Truckee’s own Todd Wees will perform his original kids’ songs alongside face painting, a balloon clown, and a pizza party, or the Squallywood-the-Book Parent Child Combo on Feb. 20 and 21, when local author Robb Gaffney leads a program for parents and children to explore Squaw Valley’s famous terrain and experience what it’s like to be in a ski movie. The Parent Project

Tuesdays beginning Feb. 23
For parents of children ages 11 to 18, the Family Resource Center of Truckee presents this 10-session workshop of guiding strong-willed children towards success. 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuition is $150 per family, workbook included; scholarships available. Girl’s Night In

Middle school girls take over the Incline Village Recreation Center while learning the basics of self-defense from Tahoe Women’s Services, some tips for hair and skin care with a salon professional, and then going on a wild treasure hunt. Mondays starting March 1
Truckee-Donner Recreation and Parks District announces the six-class spring session of this popular class for families with children up to five years old. Utilizes the comprehensive MUSIKGARTEN curriculum, activities include singing/speaking, listening, playing simple instruments, and movement. 6:15 to 6:45 p.m. or 7 to 7:30 p.m. at the Community Arts Center (former Recreation Center). Loving Solutions Parenting Class
Thursdays starting March 11
This seven-week series held at Truckee Elementary will provide education and tips to help parents of children ages 5 to 10 build their skills through easy techniques.
