Dobey Elected to Statewide Committee

Out and About

Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation CEO Lisa Dobey has been elected to the League of California Community Foundations Steering Committee. The statewide organization builds and strengthens California's communities by fostering collaboration among the state's community foundations.

“It’s a great honor to be part of a team that works to build philanthropy across the state of California,” said Dobey. “The community foundation field is very collegial — we share information with each other, coach each other, and think collaboratively on how we can grow philanthropy to improve our local communities.”

According to Lance Linares, LCCF chairman, Dobey will play an important role on the steering committee.

“Lisa’s 10-plus years as president of Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation provides her with a great wealth of experience and knowledge that are beneficial to all of us in the community foundation world,” said Linares, executive director of the Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County. “She brings a valuable perspective of smaller and more rural communities that helps the league be mindful of the diversity of the state of California.”

The LCCF is a membership organization comprised of more than 25 community foundations across the state with combined assets exceeding $6.5 billion, much of which has been permanently set aside by donors to generate income for annual grant-making in California's communities. In 2008, the most recent year for which data are available, league members and their contributors gave more than $800 million to local nonprofit organizations doing important work in health and human services, education, the environment, economic development, the arts, and much more.  

TTCF was established in March 1998 with a $1 million donation from William Hewlett. Since that time, Hewlett’s dream has been joined by thousands of permanent and part-time residents who are committed to strengthening the community through philanthropy. Since its inception, TTCF has stewarded more than $12 million into local organizations working to improve the community and now has assets of $15 million.
